Tracking India's dependence on imported industrial inputs.

A weekly research brief on the bulk drugs, and later the solar and fertiliser inputs, that India's manufacturers import rather than make. Written for analysts and procurement teams who need to know when that dependence moves.

The current picture

The 41 bulk drugs identified under the PLI scheme, by target segment, and how many in each have an approved project with a named applicant.

10 of the 41 have an applicant published against them. The Dept. of Pharmaceuticals reports 48 projects covering 33 of the 41 in aggregate without naming them all, so the remainder reads “Not known” here rather than “No”.
